Volunteer trip to Kenya

Poem Janet Adam following volunteer trip to Kenya

In May Janet Adam and Tommy Cairns went out to Kenya to volunteer at some of the Foundation programs. Following their trip Janet wrote a beautiful poem capturing some of her emotions and impressions based on their experiences during their stay.

Kenya is a beautiful place,

where everyone is full of smiles

Kenya is a friendly place,

where everyone walks for miles

Behind the smiles and beauty

lurks the darker side of life

Money is sparse, conditions are dirty

and corruption is full on and rife

Despite all this,

There is determination and hope

Despite all this,

There is friendship, kindness and people cope

Kenya is a determined place,

So how can we assist?

Kenya is a poor place,

Were some can only subsist .

We want to provide opportunity

to let them fulfill their dreams

Doctors, teachers, lawyers

all the way to the extremes

Kenya is a beautiful place,

For whom I have concern,

Kenya is a friendly place,

Where I would love to return
